Registration Small Print

Everyone is welcome to sign up for the Creative Escape®, but space is limited.

Cancellation – Creative Escape® registration is non-transferable. Refunds will be credited to the same card used for the initial transaction. If the payment was made by cash or check, the refund will be made by check. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for processing. A full refund will be given until May 15, 2011. A $250 cancellation fee will be charged until July 1, 2011, after that date refunds will not be given. Cancellations can only be processed 24 hours after the initial registration. Hotel and travel cancellations are not the responsibility of Creative Escape®. We do not guarantee that transferred registrations will be honored at the door. Consider it a RISK!

No Show – Registered students who are unable to attend due to extenuating circumstances will be able to receive class kits by making arrangements prior to the beginning of classes, August 25, 2011. Notification must be made to executive staff in writing or email. There is no charge for shipping. If arrangements are not made before classes begin, Creative Escape® can not be held liable if class kits are not available.

Interpretive service for the hearing impaired is not available, but will be accommodated if a guest makes arrangements privately and notifies the event staff in advance.

Trained volunteers

Our veteran volunteers have their own following! Everyone loves them and you will, too. The ladies are available to show you the ropes, assist you with your project, and handle special request. Every Creative Escape® volunteer is required to attend two days of training months before the event takes place. They all learn the ins and outs of every project and have the chance to learn the techniques most important to the teachers.

Checking In To The Event

Come to the convention area of the hotel on Wednesday, August 24, anytime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to check in, get your badge, wristband, fast pass, and idea book. The back of your name badge has your complete schedule for Friday and Saturday, so you will know your group name, where to go first, and in which order your classes will unfold. Everyone takes all the same classes from the same teachers – just in a different rotation. All project instructions are included in the Creative Escape Idea Book – a 100+ page idea book that will guide you through the weekend.

During The Bazaar on Thursday, you will use your fast pass assignment to know what time to appear at one class and one service project. The rest of the day is yours to take a photo with Mr. Bazzill and his restored ’57 Ford T-Bird, meet with the artists who will be teaching classes Friday and Saturday, eat lunch, wander through the The Bazaar learning how to use new products from some of your favorite scrapbook manufacturers, and pick up goodies along the way. There is so much to do before the opening presentation at 3:45 p.m. in the ballroom.

The Bazaar

Creative Escape® created this NEW Thursday activity so you can get start warming up for the big event. Wander through The Bazaar visiting a variety of mini classes, pick up a few giveaways from our generous sponsors, stop to see a demo or two, and sit down for a quick no-host lunch. If you choose to include this easy lunch option into your afternoon, the hotel will have food service and seating available so you can purchase sandwiches, salads and other light lunch items. You won’t believe the prop we are bringing along for the photo area. It is sure to be scrapbook worthy! Save time to do a little shopping at the on-site store where you have the chance to purchase official CE merchandise, purchase great products, and be inspired! This year The Bazaar starts earlier so will have plenty of time to fit everything in without being rushed. Be sure to make arrangements to check into the hotel on Wednesday so you don’t miss a thing.

Meet and Greet

Creative Escape® teachers are wonderful, charismatic, artists with so much to share. Each teacher is available Thursday for three hours during The Bazaar, to meet you face-to-face. This is your chance to meet your instructors, look at some of her favorite projects, get an autograph, and a photograph. The teachers will have tables sprinkled throughout The Bazaar. Be sure to take a moment to stop by and say “hello” when you have an extra minute or two.

Creative Escape® Opening Ceremony

Hosts Doug “Mr. Bazzill” Jones and Heidi Swapp will introduce you to the Creative Escape® teachers, give you a run-down of the event and everything else you will need to know to begin our weekend together. This year the opening is scheduled earlier than years past so you can make plans for dinner, a trip to the casino, hunker down for a night in the crop room, or hang out in a room with friends. The night is yours!

Echo Park Swap Crop Room

Visit the open crop room late at night or early in the morning to finish projects, work on a new idea, or start something new with friends. This is the place to pick up swaps if you participated in this activity before you arrived. The room seats about 50 people at a time beginning Thursday evening and ending Saturday morning. Come and go as you please but watch for special hostesses to visit the crop room during posted times. You might be surprised who you will see and what you can win!

Classes

Each guest attends all the classes taught by each of the teachers, and makes the same projects. Each day you have travel from class to class with the same group of Creative Escape® attendees. This is going to be your group for the entire weekend. How you choose to get involved is totally up to you. If you are a slow, methodical crafter, that doesn’t need much help, our volunteers will leave you alone. If you are always lost, dazed, and confused our volunteers will lovingly guide you. Each volunteer has been trained, taken every class, and has probably been with us since the beginning of the event. These girls are pros!

Be sure to sign up for a group during registration. Communicate with your friends to find out which group to pick so you can all be together. If you don’t pick the correct group or it fills before everyone gets in, no worries. You can opt in and out of groups through the beginning of August.

Closing Ceremony

The closing dinner ceremony is always an emotional ending to an inspirational weekend. Heidi and Mr. Bazzill give away hundreds of prizes from our generous sponsors, finalize our fundraising efforts, and introduce our keynote speaker. It is an emotional journey…. and this year, our last.

Note: Absolutely no children or babies allowed in classrooms, meeting spaces, or dining rooms AT ANY TIME. Please make proper arrangements for the love, care, and safety of your children while attending Creative Escape®.
